Crosstown Brewing Company Tour
The Cheers staff had a fun opportunity to tour of the Crosstown Brewing Company this past weekend. The building is brand new and is part of the Crosstown Concourse. If you haven’t checked out the taproom and outside seating, make sure to put this on your list of places in Memphis to visit. Crosstown Brewing Company opened its doors in February 2018. The company started with two guys who loved to make home brews. They were friends in High School who reconnected and decided to start a brewing company. They have made their dream a reality and the products reflect that dream and talent. There are a variety of beers on tap, and the canning and distribution is done in the same state-of-the-art facility. Not only is Crosstown Brewing Company making and selling local, delicious Memphis brews; they also give back to the community through recycling and grain distribution efforts. Crosstown has made a big effort to take Memphis beer brewing to a whole new level. Cheers staff says … you must GO VISIT!!!
Their Traffic IPA and Siren Blonde are available for sale at Cheers Wine and Spirits. We sample and were told the new Crosstoberfest will be available soon (can’t wait). Stop by and ask our experts to show you our Crosstown collection. After the tour of the facility, the Cheers staff sampled several of the beer on tap. Here’s some of the flavors we sampled and enjoyed:
Traffic IPA – Traffic is an American IPA in the west coast tradition. Brewed with Simcoe, Ella, and Citra hops, this beer has flavors of grapefruit, mango, passion fruit and pineapple. Traffic is “bittered” for excellent drinkability. Traffic finishes crisp and dry on the palate.
Siren Blonde Ale – Siren is an approachable blonde ale and is extremely drinkable. The beer is “hopped” with ample quantities of Hallertauer Mittelfruh. Look for the mild, yet spicy contributions with floral and citrus notes. The bitterness is low, just enough to balance the beer. Siren is truly a beer that can go anywhere.
Crosstown Brown – Crosstown Brown is our take on the traditional brown beers of Northern England. The rich malt profile is reminiscent of toasted bread, graham crackers, toffee and caramel. The brown malt added also brings a distinct nuttiness to the beer.
ALT School – This Dusseldorf Style Altbier is decidedly malt forward with rich notes of crusty bread, caramel, and toffee. The beer’s bitterness is assertive and balances the rich malt profile, leaving the finish clean and crisp.
Stickshift – This is inspired by the Sticke Biers of Germany but brewed to Dopplebock strength. It is a big, malty beer with notes of toffee and graham cracker. Finishes clean and smooth.
Malfunction Junction – This is a big, bitter IIPA. It is a full-frontal assault of hops with flavors of citrus, pine, resin, grapefruit and other tropical fruits. At 8% ABV, this is a surprisingly crisp and drinkable beer.
Margarita Gose – This is a light, refreshing, slightly tart ale brewed with fresh lemons, limes, and salt. This beer is reminiscent of a Margarita and is perfect for those hot southern days and nights.
