For Sauternes, it is still early days to make a fully accurate assessment of the 2020 vintage – although reports are increasingly positive.

The growing season began with a mild but relatively wet spring, which saw both an early budburst and flowering. The weather than settled into a hot, dry summer, which proved ideal for ripening the grapes. As conditions had been so warm, the harvest was inevitably early but there was a nice smattering of botrytis and picking was successful.
