The Estate wines are defined by the fruit and flavors of our little southwestern
corner of the Sta. Rita Hills. They speak of the nuances and complexitites of our
propeties as a whole. These wines take into account the many aspects, clones,
soil types and other properties of our estate. They give us the maximum amount
of blending components and, represent the most complete wines in our portfolio.

Starting with the Chardonnays, the appellation 2021 Chardonnay Estate has a bright, racy, Chablis-like vibe as well as pretty notes of honeyed lemons, chalky minerality, and white flowers. With medium to light-bodied richness, it has good intensity, bright acidity, and a clean finish. It would be a great introduction to the style of the estate.

The 2021 Chardonnay Estate is an attractive, vibrant wine. Citrus peel, white pepper, crushed rocks and salt all race through this austere, young Chardonnay. The 2021 Estate will appeal most to readers who enjoy taut, steely Chardonnays. For me, though, it is too lean. This is the first vintage that saw élevage of 12 months in barrel and then six months in tank, same as with the other Chardonnays.
