Lydian Merlot 2018
|Region||United States, Washington, Columbia Valley|
Svelte and polished, with lively black cherry, espresso and toasty herb flavors that linger toward fine-grained tannins. Drink now through 2027. 720 cases made.
Editors' Choice. The aromas bring notes of savory herb and cherry, showing freshness and vitality. The flavors are plump and ripe. Coffee notes linger on the finish. Give a short decant if drinking in the near term and it will deliver on the goods.
Full medium-deep red. Aromas of currant, blackberry, licorice, dark chocolate, spices and underbrush. Supple, easygoing wine with a subtle sweetness to its dark raspberry, mocha and chocolate flavors. Not particularly deep but nicely seamless. Finishes with fine-grained tannins and good breadth and length. This very moderately priced Merlot does not lack for flavor intensity.
